What a great class today!   We started off with some rhythms and sight-singing in treble clef on the floor, before heading to the keyboards where we did some note playbacks in Concertmaster and talked about the patterns of the black keys.  Good work everyone.  I would like to remind everyone to bring their notenooks with them each class so that I can check your homework, assign new work sheets, and so that we can work on our songs for the recital.  As well, if you could write a friendly reminder in your child’s agenda for teachers to dismiss students at 10:35 am (5 min. before 1st nutrition break) to come to class, that would be wonderful.  Happy Birthday again to Allison!

Beginner Level 1

Today in Class

Today we completed Lesson 29, where we learned about adding stems to notes on the 5 line staff.  We worked on playing line and space notes that move by step away from and toward Middle “C”.   Just remember to place both your thumbs on middle “C” , give each finger a white key and to use the hands shown by Mr. Dvorak when you play your songs.  Great work everyone!

This Week @ Home

  • In CMJ volume 2 (if you have it) review the Lesson that you did today and have fun in the Games room.
  • This week you have  “Line and Space Notes” to complete for me.
  • Practice ”Love Somebody” and “Hot Cross Buns” at home for next class.

Level 2B

Today in Class

Today we did Lesson 44 where we worked on notes in the Bass Clef and reviewed what Mr. Tchaikovsky taught us last week about piano (soft) and forte (loud).  Then you spent some time in the Games and Improvisation rooms.  Well done!

This Week @ Home

  • If you have CMJ volume 2 at home, you should review lesson 44 with Miss Melody, and head to the games room.
  • Complete the worksheet  on “Bass Clef Notes”  and bring it next class.
  • Practice “Alouette” and “Ode to Joy”.

Level 3A

Today in Class

Today in class, we had a  new teacher, Mr. Scarlatti.   After reviewing all about sharps, we did Lesson 67 and 68 with Mr. Scarlatti where we were introduced to Half note rests!   Then, you spent some time in the games room.  Great job today!

This Week @ Home

  • Complete the worksheets on “More Sharps”.
  • If you have CMJ3 at home, review your lesson and then head to the practice room to work on those tricky woodpecker songs!
  • Practice “Alouette” and “Ode to Joy” at home.

Level 3B

Today, we completed Lesson 79 where we did some more songs with Mr. Haydn that use left hand held (sticky) notes.  We also reviewed your C+ scale and the codes.  Great work everyone!

This Week @ Home

  • Complete your worksheets on “C + Scale” and “Secret Code Detectives”.
  • Keep practicing your songs.  You can also keep working on the left hand “Sticky Note” part to “Ode to Joy”!
  • If you have CMJ3 at home, review Lesson 79 and then head to the Improvisation room.
