Great job today everyone!  After reviewing and introducing new concepts to everyone, we spent time on the keyboards where some of us completed our lessons, others worked on their songs, and everyone played some games in the games room.  Then we finished up with some rhythm reading on the floor.  This time, we used some of the instruments that I brought into class.  Well done!

Beginner Level 1

Today in Class

Today we reviewed our note values on the floor.  Then we drew some notes and made up 1 bar rhythms before heading to the keyboards where we played our new game, “Metronome Soup”.  Then we worked on our songs, and you spent some time in the Improvisation room.  Great work everyone!

This Week @ Home

  • In CMJ volume 2 (if you have it) review Lesson 30 and have fun in the Games room.
  • Please complete the next worksheet in your folder.
  • Keep practicing  ”Twinkle Twinkle” and “Love Somebody” and “Hot Cross Buns” for our next class.  Don’t forget to place your right thumb on Middle “C” and give each finger a white key.  In “Twinkle Twinkle”, your pinkie (finger 5) will also play the “A” key.
  • Try “Ode to Joy” if you have it.  We will work on this next week.

Level 2B

Today in Class

Today, we did Lesson 47  where we continued to work on our bass clef notes.  You also played the Grand Staff game on the floor which was lots of fun!  At the end of class, we talked a little about your new teacher, Mr. Satie.  He liked to give his songs interesting names.  Keep working on your songs at home.  Well done!

This Week @ Home

  • Complete the worksheet on the “Bass Clef  Notes” and bring it to the next class!
  • If you have CMJ at home, review lesson 47 and spend some time in the practice room with Miss. Melody.
  • You can practice your hand position on a keyboard or even a desk table if you do not have a keyboard.
  • Practice “Ode to Joy” and your other songs for next class.

Level 3A

Today in Class

Today in class, we reviewed sharps and flats on the whiteboard and talked about your new teacher, Mr. Scarlatti, before heading to the keyboards where you completed lessons 70 and 71.  Then we reviewed your songs and you spent some time in the games room.  Great work Taylor!

This Week @ Home

  • If you have CMJ3 at home, review lessons 70 and 71.  You can also do lesson 69 if you wish to spend some more time reviewing flats.
  • Complete the next worksheet in your folder for next class.  It may be on rhythms.
  • Continue to practice your songs.  You should work on “Ode to Joy” and the Sharp song that we worked on in class.

Level 3B

Today, we moved ahead to Lesson 81 where you continued to work on “Big C Position” and your new Bass Clef notes.  ”Middle C Position” is like Middle C Position, only your left hand moves down to the next C, and your pinkie (finger 5) goes on the C, finger 4 on the D and so on.  Then you spent some time in the games and improvisation rooms.  Well done!

This Week @ Home

  • Complete your worksheets on “Big C Position”.
  • Keep practicing ”Ode to Joy” and your other songs!
  • If you have CMJ3 at home, review Lesson 81 and then head to the Improvisation and Games rooms
