Algonquin Ridge – Week 9

Everyone worked hard today at the start of class in Concertmaster to prepare for our recital next week!  Please continue to practice your songs for the recital, which will take place in room 150 on Wednesday, May 31st at 10:50 pm.  I have really enjoyed working with your children this Semester and hope to see everyone back next year!  Well done!

Beginner Level 1

Today in Class

Today we talked about our notes and note values, before working on our songs in Concertmaster.  Then you had a chance to make up your own songs in the Improvisation room, and you learned how to save your songs to the Library room where you could then listen to them.  Some of you worked on “Twinkle, Twinkle” with me.  Good work!

This Week @ Home

  • In CMJ volume 2 (if you have it) review Lesson 31 and spend some time in the practice room.
  • Some of you still have worksheets to complete for me.  Please bring these next class!
  • Keep practicing “Ode to Joy” and “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” for our recital.  Remember to put your right hand thumb on Middle “C” and give each finger a white key!

Level 2B

Today in Class

Today, after reviewing our note values on the floor, we went over our songs in Concertmaster before working on lesson 50 where we reviewed what we have learned so far.  Excellent work James!  Sebastian and I then worked on his songs for the recital.  Just play as much as you can Sebastian!  You can still practice finger numbers at home if you do not have a keyboard.  Good work with your 2 bar melody Sebastian, you know your note values well!

This Week @ Home

  • Complete any worksheets and bring next class.
  • If you have CMJ at home, review lesson 50 and spend some time in the practice room with Miss. Melody.
  • You can practice your hand position on a keyboard or even a desk table if you do not have a keyboard.
  • Practice “Ode to Joy” and your other songs for our recital.

Level 3A

Today in Class

Today, after going over our songs in Concertmaster,  Taylor continued to play with both hands together in lesson 74 with Ms. Chaminade.  We also worked on playing the C major scale with both hands and our secret scale code… great work!   Remember to keep your fingers slighly bent and touching the keys so you don’t lose your spot while playing your songs.  Keep working on the Sharp song for the recital.

This Week @ Home

  • If you have CMJ3 at home, review lesson 74 and head to the games and/or improvisation rooms.
  • Complete any incomplete worksheets.
  • Keep practicing “Ode to Joy” and the sharp song.  You can also try “Angry Birds”.

Level 3B

Today in Class

Today, after working on our songs in Concertmaster, we worked on more Intervals in lesson 83.  You are picking these up very well, Carl!  Keep working on your songs for next week!

This Week @ Home

  • Complete any incomplete worksheets.
  • Keep practicing ”Ode to Joy” and ”Big C Position”!
  • If you have CMJ3 at home, review Lesson 83 and then head to the Improvisation and Games room
