Algonquin Ridge – Week 6

Great work on your lessons today everyone!  If everyone could remind their teachers in their agendas that they need to leave their classes 5 min. before the bell to come to MusIQ class, that would be great!  Especially since we only have one more class until our recital!  It would be great to see more complete homework as there is limited time to assess in the class and I would love to see that everyone understands what we have covered in the lessons.  Keep practicing your songs at home!

Beginner Level 1A

Today, we completed Lessons 9 and 10 where Mr. Bach taught us about notes that move ” Higher and Lower Away from Middle C” and notes that  move “Higher and Lower Towards Middle C”.  Thank you for remembering to bring your folder to class so that we can work on your songs!  Try to complete some of the worksheets as well. 

This Week @ Home

• In CMJ volume 1 (if you have it) review Lessons 9 and 10 and have fun in the practice and Improvisation rooms.
• Practice ”Mary Had a Little Lamb” and ”Hot Cross Buns” for our recital.
• Please complete the worksheet on “Higher and Lower” as well as any other incomplete work.

Level 2A

Today, we did Lesson 39  with Mrs. Beach where we learned all about Bar Lines, Double Bar Lines and 4/4 Time Signature.  Your songs are coming along nicely, James!

This Week @ Home

• Practice “Hot Cross Buns/Upside Down Buns” and ”Alouette”.
• If you have CMJ2 at home, review Lesson 39 with Miss Melody each day and then head to the Games and Improvisation rooms.
• Complete your worksheet on “Grand Staff Match-Up” and any other incomplete work.

Level 2B

Today in class, we completed Lessons 46 and 48 where we worked on our Bass Clef notes, and learned new Bass Clef note “G”.  Please remember to being your booklets to class so that we can work on your songs for the recital!  Good work on your lessons. 

This Week @ Home

• In CMJ volume 2, review lesson 48 and then spend some time in the Games and Improvisation rooms.
• Complete your worksheet on “Theme and Variations” (if you have it) and any other incomplete work! 
• Practice “Ode to Joy” and “Alouette” at home.  Please bring booklets next week!

Level 2C

Today, we completed Lesson 57 where we learned all about 3/4 Time Signatures!  Well done, Taylor!  Your songs are coming along nicely!

This Week @ Home

• Complete your worksheet on “3/4 Time Signature”.
• Practice “Alouette” and “Ode to Joy”.
• If you have CMJ2 at home, review Lesson 57 each day and then head to the Games and Improvisation rooms. 

Level 3A

Today in class, we completed lesson 71 and 72 with our new teacher, Ms. Chaminade.   She taught you all about Ties and Naturals!  We also reviewed your recital songs.  Please bring in all your songs next week.  As well as the “Angry Birds” song, you should have one with Sharps and another with Flats.  Great work today!  We missed Mason and look forward to seeing him next week!

This Week @ Home

• Complete the worksheets on “Rhythms” and “Naturals.  
• If you have CMJ3 at home, review Lessons 71 and 72 and then head to the Games and Improvisation Rooms.
• Practice “Look Sharp” and your Flat song. 
• Keep practicing “Angry Birds” (both parts). We will work on our songs in Concertmaster next week in preparation for our final recital!
